Japanese bank to roll out Cardless ATMs
=>Japan's Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank is set to be the first in the world to offer a cardless ATM that uses palm scanning technology. The bank plans to roll out the technology to 10 branches from September this year.
=>How will the Technology work?
The ATM machine will run on Fujitsu palm-scanning biometric technology, which recognises the unique pattern of veins in a palm. Bank customers will just need to scan their hand to get cash and access account details.

telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today issued the New Regulations for Mobile Banking in order to ensure faster and reliable communication for banking through mobile phones.
New regulations for Mobile Banking:-
i) Mobile companies have to enable banks to complete a transaction within ten seconds under the new rules.
ii) Telecom companies have to give banks and customers the option to transact using either SMS, Interactive Voice Response, IVR, or Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD).
iii) The service providers can also optionally facilitate the bank to use WAP or Sim Application Toolkit (STK).
iv) Every access provider needs to maintain records of mobile banking messages for six months for audit purposes.
v) TRAI will monitor the quality of services offered by the mobile operators on a regular basis.

^ ONGC chairman Sudhir Vasudeva appointed on the board of United Nations Global Compact
Sudhir Vasudeva, Chairman and Managing Director, ONGC has been appointed to the Board of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) by the Secretary General, BAN Ki-moon for a period of three years.
He is only the second business leader from India to join the UNGC Board that is the cornerstone of this initiative's framework and shapes its strategy and policy.

    Vodafone issued notice to the Indian government under Bilateral Investment Treaty over tax issue between India and the Netherlands.
    1.Why Vodafone served this Notice?
    =>The Dutch subsidiary of Vodafone: Vodafone International Holdings BV (VIHBV) served a notice of dispute on the Indian government regarding proposals in the Finance Bill 2012 which it claimed, violated the international legal protections granted to Vodafone and other international investors in India.
    =>In the Budget, the government has announced a proposal to amend the Income Tax Act to bring overseas deals under tax net after the Supreme Court held that the UK firm was not liable to pay the 11,000 crore rupees in taxes.
